This class has been a great challenge for me, especially
that English is my second language and I have always faced difficulties when it
comes to my writing skills. Each assignment I completed helped me improve in
different ways and aspects. In addition, reading the text book and attending our
classes directed me to new information and rules that I am glad to know. I just
started working on my literature review, since I had issues related to my
statement of problem, and it has been a challenge. But I am glad to have this
class to guide me because it would have been difficult to complete this part of
my thesis without gaudiness. In addition, I am very pleased with the topic I
choose and I am excited to contribute to our field.

Updated Statement of Problem
A modified barium swallow study "MBS",
which is effective at ruling out silent aspiration in dementia patients, is
difficult to perform for surgical patients and patients with severe wounds who
lack mobility. An MBS can only be performed at the radiology department, as a
consequence difficulties arises due to mobility issues. Therefore, it is essential
to investigate the percentage of silent aspiration with dementia patients to
determine whether an MBS is a needed assessment tool for this population.

Change in My Research Topic
After a several discussion
with our instructor, I have changed my research topic to the following: The
incidence of silent aspiration with the dementia population to determine the
need for a modified barium swallow study "MBS".
I hope everyone agrees
that this is more interesting and beneficial topic to research in our field
