It took me a couple of weeks until I made my decision
on my research topic. My passion in our field is with swallowing disorders with
the adult population . Therefore, after constant and none stop observation in
my work place, I have decided on the following:
The occurrence of aspiration especially with thin
liquids is very common with adults with dementia. This has been researched and
been proven with different variation. Knowing this information helps the speech
language pathologist during the
evaluation processes and what step to administer. However, there is no research
that indicate if there is any differences in the occurrence of aspiration between
males and females. I think this is in important aspect to know and that is
going to be the concentration of my research.
Hi Bedoor. I just realized I never commented on your problem statement (make sure you post on the discussion board when you have updated your blog so that I know to go and check it). Remember that your problem statement should focus on something other than the lack of research/literature. You have to dig deeper. WHY would gender differences (or lack thereof) be a problem? Or what is the underlying problem?
